There were a few surprises here, and I think the teams were surprised as well—particularly McLaren’s poor performance. Even before the race, I believe they expected better race pace than what they ultimately delivered. Ferrari was competitive but slightly disappointing, finishing as the best team after Mercedes, who made a significant jump in performance—a margin few anticipated.

Qatar is a fairly different track, though not entirely so. It features more high-speed corners and fewer long straights.
